The Stone of Jordan
|The Stone of Jordan|
Level Requirement: 29
+1 to All Skills
Increase Maximum Mana 25%
Adds 1-12 Lightning Damage
+20 to Mana
The Stone of Jordan ring, mostly referred to as a "SoJ", is likely to be the most classic item in the Diablo series. The ring has an iconic status and has since the release of the game been considered as high-end gear, and is still considered so in the days of patch 1.12.
History[edit | edit source]
The ring has had a very interesting history over the years. Not only has it been a very good item to use, for a long period it was also considered as the main "currency" of Diablo II. It was very common to collect this item in large quantities. Today it has lost its currency status, most probably because of the enhanced significance of runewords when patch 1.10 was released. This led to a massive increase in demand for high level Runes. At first they existed in parallel, because these runes were worth too much and hard to use in practice, however the emergence of duping caused the balance to tip in favour of runes. Today, high level runes are generally considered to be the main currency for Battle.net trading.
Details[edit | edit source]
The item is a unique ring and has the following properties:
- +1 To All Skills
- Adds 1-12 lightning damage
- +20 to Mana
- Increase maximum Mana 25%
- Required Level: 29
The droprate for this item is extremely low, which makes it one of the harder items to find in the game. Farming Andariel in nightmare is thought to be the fastest way to find a SoJ, due to the optimal conditions in terms of droprate and the relative ease of defeating her.
The Horadric Cube[edit | edit source]
The SoJ is an ingredient in two different recipes for the use of the Horadric Cube
- 3 Perfect Skulls + 1 Rare Item + Stone of Jordan = Add 1 Socket To a Rare Item
Rare Items can only have one socket. You cannot add sockets to items that do not normally have sockets. You can not use this on a Rare with one socket. You can only add one socket to a zero socket Rare Item.
This recipe was/is mostly used by classic Diablo II gamers, where there is no socketing through quests available. (Quest 1 Act V in LoD)
- 1 Perfect Skull + 1 Rare Item + Stone of Jordan = 1 High Quality New Rare Item of the same type
This formula has the possibility of creating a higher quality Rare Item than the following formula.
- ilvl = int(.66 * clvl) + int(.66 * ilvl)
That is, the ilvl will be equal to .66 times your clvl (rounded down) plus .66 times the input item's ilvl (also rounded down).
This recipe is generally in practice too expensive for the sake of re-rolling, however, particularly during the wide public dupewaves when SoJs were particularly cheap, re-rolling of especially rare Grand Matron Bows were common.
