Stat Points[]

Strength: None, your gear should give you enough.

Dexterity: Enough for max block against Hell Baal, this depends on your level, holy shield level, euipped shield and any block bonus from equipment.

Vitality: Everything, all points here.

Energy: Nothing.

Skill Points[]

Core Skills[]

20 Fist of the Heavens: Main skill

20 Holy Shock: A synergy that increases lightning damaga of FotH.

1 Holy Bolt: Leave this at 1 because it only increases the bolt damage of FotH, which only hurts undead monster.

10-20 Conviction: Main Aura. At level 25 it causes -150 resists to your enemies, any higher level will not improve this. If you have +11 to all skills in your gear, 14 hard points is what you need. However, when you duel a paladin with level 26 Conviction, your Conviction will have no effects on him, while you take the full -150. Consider maxing this aura or try to end up at 26.

1-20 Holy Shield: has a diminishing return on block rate. Even with 1 point here, you will still end up somewhere in the 20 range because you will focus on +Combat skills on items. Maxing it gives you solid defense bonus and exponential smite damage.

Optional Skills[]

Resist Fire/Resist Cold/Resist Lightning: These give a passive 0.5% bonus (rounded down) to maximum resistance for every hard point, even when you don't have the aura active. When you do have one active, you and your party get a 1% bonus to the maximum resistance of the element you choose, along with the +resist.

Fanaticism: This is for smiting people with stacked lightning resist. If you intend to smite, max Holy Shield first, then Fanaticism. Only pump Smite when you have nothing else to do with skill points, as Smite adds little damage.

Gear[]

Weapon[]

Hand of Blesses Light is the most common, it gives +2 to all skills and another +2 to FotH. Socketed with Facet.

Rare or Magic Scepter with +2 all skills and +3 FotH, with 1 or 2 sockets. This is better than HoBL.

Magic Scepter with +3 Combat Skills and +3 FotH, with 2 sockets. This one is a legend. I've never seen a +6 scepter.

Crescent Moon Rune Word: -35% LR against Resist Stackers. Situational.

Heart of the Oak is weak, but you get FCR to tele faster.

Call to Arms to buff up.

Shield[]

Herald of Zakarum: Best damage shield, high block. Can have 1 socket. Spirit Rune Word: Weak, but you get FCR to tele faster. Also used to buff with CTA.

Helmet[]

Griffon's Eye: Best damage helmet, can have 1 socket.

Harlequin Crest Shako: Only use if you need DR. Provides life/mana/DR and 1 socket.

Armor[]

Enigma: Main Armor, allows you to Teleport.

      • NOTES FROM A VETERAN*** Don't use Enigma and the Teleport skill for FOH paladins. Equip Chains of Honor instead and use the Charge skill for movement. Excessive use of the Charge skill will enable server desynchronization, causing you to not be visible on your opponent's screen correctly and is infinitely better than Teleport for PVP. COH will give much better PVP stats and will keep you from getting killed in one or two shots from strong opponent builds. COH also allows for far superior resistance stacking against elemental characters that this build often has trouble against. Putting Enigma armor on FOH pallys is a very common mistake people make with this build. Again, the Charge skill is objectively better than Teleport with a FOH pally. Additionally, when you teleport near an opponent, it will take longer for Conviction to take effect. If you are using Charge to move you can trigger Conviction faster, leading to a faster kill and giving your opponent less time to kill you. Also, don't listen to advice that says to only get Conviction to level 25. It stops gaining effectiveness after level 25, but if you play against another paladin with Conviction, the only aura that will take effect is the player with the higher level aura. Whoever has the lowest Conviction won't have a functioning Conviction aura at all. I've had the debate about this style of build with numerous FOH paladins over the years and we've settled them with PVP duels where they lost handily every time. Most paladin builds are better with Enigma, but FOH is not one of them. With that in mind, large parts of this build are not optimal because the author has chosen equipment geared towards faster cast rate. Fist of the Heavens uses IAS and not FCR, so all gear that has FCR will not benefit FOH.

Guardian Angel: Backup Armor, for + Max resist.

Shaftstop: Backup Armor, for DR.

Belt[]

Arachnid's Mesh: 1 Skill and FCR. No other belt does this.

Verdungo: Only use if you need DR.

Amulet[]

+3 Combat Magic Amulet with FCR or life mod.

+2 skills FCR rare or crafted.

Mara's Kaleidoscope if you have nothing better to use.

Rings[]

Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band: + skill and life.

Ravenfrost: Use if you need CBF.

Rare or crafted with FCR: to teleport faster.

Gloves and Boots[]

Trang or Magefist to teleport faster. Boots choice is up to you, Waterwalk with max life is a pretty nice.

Socketing[]

Lightning Facet, 5/5 if you can find, else +5/-x is much cheaper. You can use defensive choices such as Ber but this will lower your damage.
