Khalim was a Que-Hegan of the High Council of the Zakarum faith. When the Zakarum priests were taken by the evil powers of Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, Khalim was alone in remaining on the side of Light. Because of this, Mephisto ordered the evil-turned Council to murder Khalim. After murdering Khalim, the Council dismembered the dead body and scattered its remnants across the kingdom. His heart, brain, and eye are all that remain of him. These body parts, along with Khalim's flail, are recovered in the quest Khalim's Will (quest) in Diablo II.
Khalim's role as Que-Hegan was succeeded by Sankekur, who later became Mephisto's embodiment.
