Jacob is a young man from the town of Staalbreak where he is the son of the Lord Constable. He is and the protagonist of the Sword of Justice comic. Faced by the constant threat of barbarian attacks from the now corrupt Dreadlands, Jacob's father is driven insane and kills his mother, after which he also tries to kill Jacob. In the end Jacob survives the encounter and kills his father, after which he flees Staalbreak and is hunted for murder by his childhood friend Ivan.
He is eventually led to El'druin, Tyrael's sword, which was lost when it was used to destroy the Worldstone 20 years earlier.
